A showcase celebrating pupil engagement with reading at Malvern College Tokyo
We invite all current pupils of Malvern College Tokyo, their families, and specially invited guests, to attend our first Book Festival. Throughout the day, you can explore the Pupil Exhibition Space on the third floor of our campus which will be filled with a range of creative responses to things that pupils have read while at MCT. You can attend talks delivered by published and best-selling authors who work in a range of genres, having the opportunity to ask them questions and purchase copies of their books for them to sign. You can also participate in fun and interactive book-related activities and workshops, enjoy musical performances inspired by books, read aloud your own poetry in front of a crowd at our open mic, hear authors read the winning entries to our English and Japanese short-story writing competitions. There will be opportunities to purchase a variety of tasty savoury snacks, beverages, and sweet treats, as well as limited edition pupil-designed merchandise.
Take part in exciting hands-on science experiments taken from Alom Shaha's books: Mr Shaha's Recipes for Wonder and Marvellous Machines.
Enjoy a range of interactive activities relating to The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
Join Sheepdog Theatre Producer, Michael Walker, and Executive Producer, Michelle Mugnai, in a hands-on performance workshop. They are the creative team behind the production of Romeo and Juliet that our MYP pupils enjoyed at the end of last term.
Pupils and parents are invited to read aloud poetry that they love and even poetry that they have written themselves.
Come and spend 45 mins with our pupils as they perform music inspired by some of their favourite books.
Bring your newly purchased MCT Book Festival pencil case to our Design Makerspace. Here, you can personalise it with images and quotations inspired by your favourite book.

Parents of pupils in preps 1,2 and 3 are invited to attend a Phonics Workshop led by Mr. Houseago and Ms. Gabriel. Here, you can find out more about how to support your child's reading at home, and put these hints and tips into practice.
